The Bulgarian villages

The Bulgarian villages are famous for their beautiful nature and their hospitable owners.

Country tourism is successfully developed in many of them, which will provide you the option to sense the Bulgarian lifestyle and culture, to become a part of the Bulgarian traditions and customs, as well as to taste Bulgarian dishes, prepared according to recipes, preserved for centuries.

Along with the interesting stories and legends, in which every Bulgarian village is rich, here you can find out with your senses such notions as contact with nature, relaxation, healthy food, etc. There is probably no person who will not feel the pleasure of waking in the morning by the warbling of birds; having for breakfast the banitsa just made by the hostess and the home made yogurt; walking in the forest on a horse back; and drinking calmly a cup of tea made of fragrant herbs by the fireplace in the evening.

Some of the prettiest Bulgarian villages are nested in the Rhodope mountain – Gela, Shiroka Laka, Momchilovtsi, Orehovo, Smilyan, Arda, Dolen, Leshten, Kovachevitsa, Pletena, and many others.

There are also multiple villages in the Balkan Mountain – Bozhentsi, Ribaritsa, Zheravna, Oreshak, Medven, Skandalo, the picturesque villages of neighborhoods in the Elena, Etro Pole and Teteven Balkan Mountain, etc. The village of Arbanasi will enchant you with its options for relaxation and hiking.

Another type of charm will be offered to you by the villages along the Black Sea coast – residing in them, you can combine the summer rest with country tourism – Durankulak, Krapets, Tyulenovo, Kamen Bryag, Balgarevo, Shkorpilovtsi, Lozenets, Varvara, Sinemorets, Rezovo, etc.

You can reach the beauties of Rila Mountain if you stay in some of the settlements – Govedartsi, Beli Iskar, Mala Tsarkva or Dobarsko.

Accommodation is also offered in the Strandzha villages of Balgari, Kosti, Brashlyan, Mladezhko, and if you visit Strandzha in the beginning of June, you can observe the ancient ritual of nestinarstvo – dancing on live coals.
